1. Introduction

Welcome to SkillTrees & RoadMaps — a personal growth and visualization app created and maintained by Bimsara Jayalath.

By using SkillTrees & RoadMaps (the “App” or “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Use. Please read them carefully before continuing to use the App or any related websites operated by us.

2. License and Usage Rights

SkillTrees & RoadMaps is currently offered as a free version for personal and educational use. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App solely for your own personal growth, planning, or learning purposes.

Redistribution, resale, or use of SkillTrees & RoadMaps for commercial purposes without explicit written consent from Bimsara Jayalath is not permitted.

Users may upload their own text and images as part of creating skill trees. You are solely responsible for ensuring that any uploaded content does not violate copyright, privacy, or other applicable laws.

3. Future Licensing and Paid Versions

SkillTrees & RoadMaps may offer free and paid tiers, including feature limits and entitlement-based access to specific functionality.

Terms, limits, and pricing for any paid services will be communicated within the App and/or on our official website. By using paid or entitlement-gated features, you agree to the specific terms that apply to those features.

If you purchase a paid plan, refunds are handled under our Refund Policy.

Paid subscriptions and checkout are processed by Lemon Squeezy as a third-party payment platform. By purchasing a paid plan, you also agree to Lemon Squeezy's applicable terms, privacy, billing, and payment processing policies.

Subscription management actions (including canceling auto-renew and resuming a canceled renewal) are performed through the Lemon Squeezy customer portal available from in-app account settings.

If a purchase is not linked automatically, users may use the in-app Restore Purchase flow. Restore is an account-verification process and may require sign-in with the same verified email used during checkout.

4. Intellectual Property

All content, visual design, code, and branding related to SkillTrees & RoadMapsare the intellectual property of Bimsara Jayalath unless otherwise stated.

You may not modify, copy, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App or its contents without prior written permission.

This restriction does not prevent permitted use of user-generated tree content through built-in sharing and forking features where the owner has enabled forking.

5. User Responsibilities

You agree to use the App in a lawful and respectful manner. You must not attempt to interfere with or reverse-engineer the App’s functionality, misuse its content, or use it in ways that may harm others or violate applicable laws.

6. User Generated Content

By uploading custom images or text, you retain ownership of your content. However, you grant SkillTrees & RoadMaps a limited license to store, process, and display this content as needed to operate the Service (including private account use, optional public publishing, and permitted forking flows). You agree not to upload any content that:

• - Infringes on the rights of others (e.g., copyrighted images)
• - Contains explicit, illegal, or hateful material
• - Violates applicable laws or community standards

We reserve the right to remove or restrict content that violates these terms.

You are solely responsible for all content you create, upload, publish, or share through the Service, whether private or public. We are not responsible or liable for user-generated content, including its accuracy, legality, or any third-party claims arising from that content.

We do not pre-screen all user content and are not obligated to monitor private or public trees continuously, but we may review, remove, or restrict content when required to enforce these Terms, comply with law, or protect users and the Service.

Trees are private by default. If you publish a tree, you make that published version publicly accessible until it is unpublished.

If you submit a public tree for template review, you grant us a limited license to review, moderate, store, and display a snapshot of that submission in template discovery surfaces, if approved. We may reject, delist, or require resubmission of templates to enforce these Terms, community standards, legal obligations, or product quality/safety requirements.

Template approval and marketplace listing are discretionary and are not guaranteed, even for paid plans with submission access.

Template submissions may include a custom URL slug. Slugs must meet formatting rules and be available at approval/listing time. We may require slug changes to resolve conflicts, moderation actions, or operational constraints.

7. Account Security and Termination

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. We may suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms or abuse the service. You may delete your account at any time. Account deletion requests are processed within a reasonable operational timeframe.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

We make no guarantees that the App will be error-free, continuously available, or suitable for every user’s intended purpose.

9. Public Content, Embeds, and Data Freshness

Publicly shared skill trees may be cached locally on a user’s device to improve performance, reliability, and overall service stability.

As a result, updates made by the owner of a public tree may not be visible immediately to all viewers. While the App may provide options to manually refresh public content, real-time synchronization is not guaranteed.

The allow-forking setting controls whether new forks can be created at that time. It does not retroactively remove forks created earlier. Existing forks are independent copies owned by the users who created them.

Embeddable tree views are read-only public views intended for iframe usage. If you embed a tree on third-party websites, you are responsible for complying with applicable disclosure, consent, copyright, and platform rules for your region and audience.

Template slug URLs are public discovery URLs. Do not include private or sensitive information in slugs. Legacy ID-based links may still be supported for compatibility.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bimsara Jayalath and associated entities shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, or incidental damages arising from the use or inability to use SkillTrees & RoadMaps.

We are not liable for failures, outages, payment authorization decisions, fraud checks, chargeback handling, or other actions performed by third-party payment processors, including Lemon Squeezy.

We do not directly store full payment card details on our servers. Payment credentials are collected and processed by the payment provider.

We are not liable for inability to restore purchases when third-party payment metadata is missing, inconsistent, delayed, or cannot be matched to account ownership with reasonable confidence.

We are not liable for third-party website behavior where public tree links or embeds are used, including external tracking, cookie policies, consent implementation, or site-specific legal compliance.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may revise or update these Terms of Use from time to time as the App evolves.
The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest version. Continued use of the App after such updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
